It’s been a great semester in the residence halls, and we hope your student has enjoyed being part of the community. As you and your family prepare for the upcoming holidays, you may have questions about break housing.
Most colleges in the area charge students for break housing. Some schools consolidate everyone into one building during breaks. Other institutions completely close their doors. Break housing is a service we’re happy to offer students at no additional cost and with very little inconvenience. On November 4, all resident students received a detailed email outlining the break housing policies and procedures.
Thanksgiving Break Housing (Nov. 24-27)
The residence halls are open during Thanksgiving break. If your student plans to stay on campus during this time, they must complete the Thanksgiving Break Housing form on the My Housing online portal. It’s important for us to know who’s around if there’s an emergency.
December Break (Dec. 22 – Jan. 1)
With the exception of Alberta and Georgia Apartments, the residence halls close at 10 am on December 22. Some students may be eligible to stay in their residence hall during the break. Information about December break is available on the Residence Life blog >>
January Term (Jan. 1 – 27)
The residence halls will open at Noon on January 1, and students are welcome to live on-campus, even if they are not taking a J-Term course. If your student plans to stay on campus during this time, they must complete the J-Term Housing form on the My Housing online portal. It’s important for us to know who’s around if there’s an emergency.
